New Zealand is currently at Alert Level 4, meaning all non-essential businesses must close. Feed My Furbaby is providing an essential service to the pets that rely on our food and closing could jeopardise the health of your pets, so we will continue delivering our pet food throughout New Zealand during Level 4 Lockdown. To give you peace of mind, we would like to outline the practices we have put in place to help keep your fur-family safe, and some additional advice that you can use to further increase safety at your end. We are following Government guidelines in 3 key areas, and adding our own additional practices to keep you safe:
1. Eliminating physical interactions between staff, suppliers and customers
Staff isolation: We are all working from home and have no physical contact between any staff.
Supply Chain:: We have implemented a single contact point with our stock. From Warehouse to Courier there is now only 1 person that will ever handle our stock/ your orders. Goods coming in are wrapped, removing any outside contact with the product; the wrapping is immediately removed and sent back (to recycling) on arrival, meaning the boxes have not been in physical contact with anyone outside FMFB.
2. Ensuring appropriate health, hygiene and safety measures are in place
Storing Stock: Stock is now held in a single room that is only accessed by our 1 onsite contact. Hands are washed before entry into our ‘sanitised zone’, sanitised again on entry, and regularly during packing. A face mask is worn at all times and all necessary surfaces and equipment are sprayed and wiped with disinfectant (70% Isopropyl Alcohol) at least twice a day, or as required.
Packing orders: The same single contact point also packs your orders, under the same above hygiene conditions, ensuring no interactions between other staff members.
Contactless Collection: Orders ready to dispatch are left in a covered area for courier collection. When the courier is onsite, a physical barrier is kept between the courier and our 1 onsite contact, meaning no physical contact. (We still say hi and thank them every day for their great work, just through a closed window!)
Contactless delivery: New Zealand Post is operating a contactless delivery service. All packages will be left somewhere safe with no signature required. If they are unable to leave your order somewhere safe they will leave a card to explain how to rearrange delivery.
3. Restrict activity to only what is essential during the Alert Level 4 period.
We are still sticking to only the essential services that we supply and in our case, that is our Feed My Furbaby dog food. We will continue to supply treats (under the same conditions) to help keep your furbabies happy at the moment.
Some additional advice on collecting parcels at your end
We believe we have taken every step we can to maximise hygiene and minimise contact with your parcels. However, we would still advise a safe parcel delivery process at your home, for all your deliveries at the moment.
Avoid all courier contact. This is to keep them and you safe. Please do not attempt to collect parcels directly from your couriers. Let them leave them for you and leave the premises. If you do encounter a courier, keep 2m apart at all times.
Sanitise or quarantine parcel deliveries if you can:
Covid-19 can last for up to 3 days on hard surfaces, like plastic, and 24 hours on cardboard. If you can, we would recommend minimal handling of all mail and/or parcels in the first 3 days of delivery (1 day may be acceptable for cardboard). Ideally set them aside in a ‘quarantine’ area during this time, and regardless, wash your hands after handling these parcels, especially in the first 3 days.
